Well, I figured I'd try something different and so I downloaded Stepmania to see what all the buzz was about. Unfortunately, there are no packages available for this program in the Ubuntu repositories. I tried a couple of deb's I found online, but they would not work with Hardy Heron, so I resorted to downloading the binary tar file for 3.9 directly from their web site.
I was able to easily extract the program, download some songs from their web site, and run stepmania. The next challenge was getting a Dance Mat to work under Kubuntu. I have a Mad Catz Beat Pad, but it is not presently supported using the xpad driver. In order to make this work, I will have to hack the driver and patch in support.
